I've spent most of my life in a small town called Avalon on Catalina Island. In comparison to most of the continental United States, my island home is very limiting in many ways, but nothing even remotely comes close to its unique and exceptional beauty. Growing up, the ocean was my front yard and had the vast rolling hills for a backyard. I was always fascinated by the abundant sea life and wildlife that continuously surrounded me. I became interested in the arts at a young age, and the island’s natural landscape influenced me to draw and paint a variety of organic forms.

My passion for natural life takes a particular form in my body of work. It is inspired by internal organs and cells visually flowing throughout one's body. Cells play a critical role in the body of each individual. They come in all shapes and sizes and these cells depend on each other to keep the body functioning as a unit. Just like single cells multiply, each paint stroke in my work multiplies into organic-like forms.

Working with mediums such as paint on canvas has always allowed me to express myself to what I believe is my fullest potential.  My work has evolved within this past year through new experiences and different forms of creativity. As I twist the forms within my paintings, they transform into more abstract fluid forms.  Because the physical process is so significant in my artwork, I want each tear, paint stroke, and dent within the canvas to be defined and clear for the viewer.  As the forms in my artwork begin to connect with one another, the painting begins to come to life as the biomorphic qualities start to vibrate off the canvas.
